Il a grandi à Los Angeles lorsqu'il était adolescent ce qui a sans doute influencé sa carrière musicale. Il déménagea en Californie pour étudier le commerce à Oakland. C'est avec de l'argent que lui a donné son grand-père, vers la fin des années 80, qu'il a investi dans un magasin de disques à Richmond qui s'appellait "No Limit", avant de monter le label du même nom en 1990. Lui et son équipe de production "Beats By The Pound" ont commencés à sortir des albums hésitants. Les sorties de No Limit étaient des projets avec un budget très faible et sans aucune publicités dans les gros médias tel que la télévision ou la radio. Mais le label ne resta pas inconnu dans l'underground et devint vite une petite référence. Master P sortit un premier succès underground en 1994 intitulé "Ghetto's Tryin' To Kill Me !", première sortie solo de l'artiste. Il forma ensuite Tru avec son frère C-Murder et Silkk The Shocker. Le groupe sortit le premier album sous No Limit et leur opus fit de la publicité pour le label lorsqu'il rentra dans le Top 30 des charts R&B. Master P sortit ensuite plusieurs albums qui eurent plus ou moins de succès tels que "99 Ways To Die" en 1995, suivit de "Ice Cream Man" en 1996 qui se classa en 26ème place dans les charts US en Mai 1996. Vint ensuite l'album "Ghetto D" en 1997 qui fut numéro 1 américain en Septembre 1997. Grâce à ces succès d'albums, Master P et son label se firent connaître encore plus notamment grâce au petit livret présent dans chaque album qui présentait les prochaines sorties du label. Silkk The Shocker et C-Murder sortirent ensuite plusieurs albums qui eurent eux aussi plus ou moins de succès, No Limit s'était établi comme étant l'un des labels Hip-Hop les plus populaires. Master P produit et finança tout seul son film autobiographique intitulé "I'm Bout It" ce qui augmenta encore la popularité du rappeur et de son label. Quand le film arriva en vidéo, la bande originale du film se classa tout de même numéro 4 dans les charts américains en Juin 1997. Master P sortit encore un autre album intitulé "MP Da Last Don" durant l'été 1998 et un deuxième film apparu dans les cinémas américains intitulé "I Got The Hook Up". No Limit vivait alors une époque florrissante et cela depuis 1996. No Limit signa alors en 1998 un artiste qui venait de quitter Death Row : Snoop Doggy Dogg. C'est également quand il signa chez No Limit qu'il changea de nom pour désormais s'appeller Snoop Dogg, comme pour marquer un trait sur sa carrière chez Death Row. En Février 1999, Silkk The Shocker sortit un album intitulé "Made Man" qui se classa au sommet du Billboard américain. Les autres branches dans lesquelles l'infatiguable Master P s'était lancé était une ligne de vêtements, une agence de management de sport et pour son compte personnel il s'était associé à une équipe de basket. Master P sortit ensuite "Only God Can Judge Me" en 1999 et en 2000 "Ghetto Postage". No Limit, qui était un sous-label de Priority Records, fit la transition pour aller chez Universal Records. Tout cela se fit vers la fin de l'année 2000. L'album de Master P "GameFace" inaugura cette nouvelle transition en Décembre 2000. Son frère C-Murder a monté un sous-label de No Limit qui s'appelle Tru Records en référence à leur premier groupe. Son dernier album en date sorti en mai 2004 a été assasiné dans la presse, mais franchement moi je le trouve bien, bien crunk, avec des feat de Lil' Jon, c'est frais...
