Lorsque le rappeur Young Buck arrive sur le devant de la scène, notamment en tant que membre de G-Unit, crew de 50 Cent, il est considéré comme une "1 pti nouveau" alors qu'en fait il est présent dans le rap game depuis un petit moment déjà.

Alors qu'il entre dans une période difficile, travaillant sans cesse pour enfin pouvoir se faire un nom, un évènement tragique vient freiner son destin. Un homme fait irruption chez lui, fraccassant la porte d'entré, gun à la main, Young Buck se retrouve blessé dans le dos, touché par deux balles.
Quelques temps après cet facheuse aventure, Young Buck s'associe au rappeur D-Tay et ensemble ils réalisent un album intitulé "Thuggin' Til The End" sur le label Next Level, en août 2000. L'album n'a pas fait grand bruit mais Cash Money reprend contact avec Young Buck par téléphone pour lui demander de revenir sur le label.
Il accepte mais après deux semaines passé à trainer derrière les bureaux, il comprend qu'encore une fois il s'est fait planté. Il court alors derrière Juvenile, qui était prêt à cette époque à quitter le label Cash Money, et il prend la route avec le rappeur pour une tournée. Lorsque le tour s'arrête pour une date à New York, Young Buck rencontre 50 Cent, et ce dernier l'invite rapidemment à rejoindre son crew, G-Unit. Young Buck accepte, avec la bénédiction de Juvenile,
et co-écrit le titre "Bloodhound" de 50 Cent et assure également le featuring.
Arrive le premier album de G-Unit, "Beg For Mercy" et le "monde" prend conscience de l'existance de Young Buck.
L'album est double album de platine lorsque Buck sort son premier opus sous G-Unit, "Straight Outta Ca$hville", sur Interscope en août 2004. On retrouve 50 Cent, Lil' Flip, Tony Yayo, Ludacris et son pote D-Tay. L'album, comme ceux de l'ensemble du crew G-Unit, fonctionne très bien. Troisième place au Billboard 200 et deuxième place au Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
